Crime and Public Safety Reports
- New Narcotics Partnership
- The Statesville, Mooresville, and Troutman Police Departments partnered to implement a new narcotics incinerator project.
- The incinerator was partially funded by a $10,000 grant from the Drug-Alcohol Coalition of Iredell (DACI).
- It allows for the safe destruction of drug evidence and expired medications from local take-back programs.
- Recent Arrests (March 20–21) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO)
- Woodleaf Area: Todd Junior Rupard was arrested and faces drug charges after an ICSO deputy found a bag of fentanyl during a traffic stop on Wilkesboro Highway.
- Troutman Area: A Taylorsville man was charged with arson for intentionally setting a fire inside the men’s restroom at the Pilot Travel Center on Charlotte Highway, related to burning an occupied commercial building.
- Statesville: Jonathan Ryan Taylor was arrested on a charge of Felony Conspiracy.
- Statesville: Brandon Lee Lewis was arrested and charged with Assault On A Female By Male Over 18 Years Of Age and Misdemeanor Crime Of Domestic Violence.

- Iredell-Statesville Schools (I-SS)
- The school district announced plans for a series of redistricting open houses, necessitated by the upcoming opening of Weathers Creek High School and Parkertown Elementary School.
- Members of the Board of Education reportedly clashed over selecting a permanent board chair and delays in filling the vacant District 2 seat.
- Mooresville Town Updates
- The Town Board approved a waiver allowing the developer of the Brentwood Phase 5 project to reapply for a rezoning request that was previously considered.
- The Water and Sewer Enterprise’s Revenue rating was upgraded by Moody’s Ratings from Aa2 to Aa1.
- Statesville City Updates
- Brookdale Drive was scheduled to be closed starting Monday, March 23, 2026, for storm drain repairs between Stockton Street and the site of Sparky the Fire Dog’s 75th birthday celebration.
